This little Chickadee must have been admiring the fruit bowl on our dining room table when he knocked himself silly on the sliding glass door. He had us worried, because he rested on the porch for 10 minutes or more, uncharacteristic behaviour for these busy little fellows, but he eventually came around and smartly flew away.

So, since we are talking about birds lately, here is one of my favourites.
Ok, it's a terrible picture, but this red-tail hawk was sitting on top of my laundry pole about 30 meters away, and I had to take the picture through the door that leads to the rear deck. This is probably a yearling, since he is not wearing adult colours yet, but he was hungry as a teenager can be. He cleaned up the entire rodent population of Lunenburg County.
We named him Howard. You know that creepy scream you hear in the background sound of every outdoor scene in every motion picture that was ever made? That's Howard. If he had an agent he wouldn't have to eat mice.

This handsome goldfinch visited last Spring. He posed for his portrait just outside my big picture window.
This year, as much as we might miss this little fellow, we are planning to sell our house and move on. I have updated our listing on PropertyGuys and invite you to take a look...and perhaps pass on the link to your friends. PropertyGuys

Now That's a Kitchen!
So, after breakfast, D asked me if I had any special plans for the morning. "No, not really," said I.
Two weeks later, after working all day every day removing all the cabinet doors, cleaning and painting all the walls, cabinets and doors (two coats), filling all the screw holes so that the doors could be positioned correctly with all new hinges and knobs, installing a newly modified pantry cabinet...well, you get the idea.
Looks good, don't you think?
I certainly learned a lot. I learned to have big plans in mind when I come to the breakfast table!

The best part of the day!
Here is the reason I like the second watch: the earth rolls gently toward the coming dawn and invites me to this spectacular show!
This is the view from my big window.

Happy Anniversary, Biscuits
In the meantime, the winter has been kind. We are hoping there has been enough cold weather to keep the bugs in check. This is the red maple tree, beautifully frosted with a wet snow a few weeks ago.

New pictures of the property
We have been reorganizing our space to suit us better. One of the upstairs bedrooms is now my office, and the living room downstairs (where we used to make our master bedroom) is now a family room and craft studio.
